Clare Lavelle Appointed to Lead Next Phase of Development of Buchan Offshore Wind

Buchan Offshore Wind, a 1GW floating offshore wind project 75km northeast of Fraserburgh, has announced that Clare Lavelle, currently Director and Energy Leader at Arup, will be taking up the role of Project Director when the current role holder Alasdair MacLeod steps down in August.

Clare brings extensive experience of major project development, having led a diverse portfolio of offshore and onshore energy and wind projects. In her time with Arup she has worked with government and regulators in shaping policy and regulatory frameworks, and with the private sector leading project execution.

Buchan Offshore Wind director, Felipe Cornago, said,

“We are delighted that Clare will be taking over this key role, and it is clear she brings a tremendous amount of capability and experience at this important time for the project.

We would like to thank Alasdair for his expert guidance of the project since we were awarded our option agreement for the site, and, indeed, for his massively important contribution to our successful ScotWind bid back in 2021.

Clare inherits a great team, which continues to grow as we progress the many workstreams required to submit our application for consent in 2025 and to developing our detailed project design.”
